Today’s guest is Marquelle Bowden, founder of NIQUELLE, which is a clothing brand that specializes in made-to-order garments for young-adult trendsetters. She's here to tell us all about how she’s expanding her empire in a way that stays true to her, the work she does, how she started her business, and what it was like when she first got started.
Mqrquelle is the founder and designer for Niquelle. She designs handmade outerwear pieces for young adults. Niquelle was born out of the idea of her alter ego coming to life. Her design journey started at the age of 12 with designing sneaker designs. As she got older, she began designing clothing. It wasn't until her junior year at Virginia State University that she designed and produced her first mini collection for Niquelle. In 2020, she officially started the brand Niquelle and had her first runway collection in 2021 in Virginia Beach, VA.
I met Marquelle at the Spring '22 Foster Beauty Fashion Show and I adored her work! Her clothing is pleasing to the eye and she caters to all sizes, including plus size. She works hard, loves to help others and give back to those in need.
Listen to this episode as we talk about owning a business in fashion, and encouraging people to shop with black designers.
